#Commentary of Alexey Zhigulin in support of approval of DPR Foreign Policy Concept

On March 1, 2019, by Decree of the Head of the Donetsk People’s Republic, the most important programmatic document was approved – the Foreign Policy Concept of the Donetsk People’s Republic, the provisions of which formalized the policy of creating a subject state formed as a result of a referendum in the Donbass in 2014.

The Free Donbass faction fully supports the position of the DPR Head, Denis Pushilin, and the efforts of the DPR MFA to determine the foreign policy vector of Republic’s development. It should be noted that the publication of such an important strategic regulatory act is fully consistent with the position of the Free Donbass public movement, declared in the electoral programme.

The establishing of the Donetsk People’s Republic takes place during a period of crisis’ aggravation of the established model of world order, historical changes in the system of international relations caused by a number of political, social, economic contradictions, increasing instability of the world political and economic system, enhanced by the role of the force factor in international relations.

The peculiarities of the historical development and the specificity of the geopolitical situation of the Donetsk People’s Republic predetermine the priority of the development of bilateral relations and cooperation with the Russian Federation.

Consistent non-compliance with and violation by the Ukrainian party of the Set of Measures for the implementation of the Minsk agreements necessitates the formation of a single foreign policy course of the Donetsk People’s Republic, aimed at its approval as a full member of the world community.
