#Commentary of Vladislav Berdichevsky on another application of double standards by United States

The policy of double standards of the United States has ceased to amaze us with its methods of determining what truth and a lie are during the war years. Accusing Russia of aggression, the Armed Forces of the United States conducted military operations in 143 countries during 2016 and constantly present in more than 80 states at the moment.

In August 2014, Joe Biden called the Russian humanitarian convoy in Donbass “a blatant provocation by Moscow”, while commending “the restraint” of the Kiev authorities in this situation. However, in February 2019, Mr. Biden called the leader of Venezuela a tyrant on his Twitter account and invited him to step aside and give way to democracy, which the people of Venezuela deserved. Because President Maduro refused to accept humanitarian assistance from the United States. It is interesting what does Joe Biden imply by democracy: its American version of equality, where everyone is ruled by those, who are “equal”?

Departing from the above, it should be reminded that George Orwell introduced in his novel “1984” such a notion as “double think”, which meant an ability to hold to two opposing viewpoints. The heroes of his work changed their opinion on the signal of the authorities. War is peace, black is white, ignorance is power. The leaders of Oceania brought up their people with such slogans. Everyone, who disagreed, was sent to ideological re-education in order to substitute all revolutionary ideas in the minds of rebels for love for Big Brother.

Orwell’s anti-utopia unusually and accurately describes the situation on the world political scene, where Americans embodied in Joe Biden think that they have the right to decide when black should be called white and vice versa.
