Denis Pushilin calls Ukraine’s attempts to sabotage decisions of Contact group “destructive and unreasonable”
The DPR People’s Council Chairman, permanent plenipotentiary representative of the DPR to the negotiations of the Contact group in Minsk Denis Pushilin commented on another attempt of the Ukrainian side to sabotage the agreements reached on withdrawal of equipment from the contact line.
“Arrangements for the withdrawal of heavy weapons, reached at the last meeting of the Contact group on Monday, was once again ignored by Ukraine. Scheduled for today videoconference, designed to discuss security issues, also did not take place. The only party that refused to participate in the skype-meeting was Ukraine.
It is not possible to call any other way as totally destructive and reckless actions of the Ukrainian government for sabotaging the decisions and arrangements of the Contact group, which also were supported by the “Normandy Format” at the level of Foreign Ministers. This is the continuation of policy of tightening talks in hope of finding a way out of them.
We insist on the need to implement the agreements reached to stabilize the military situation. Heavy weapons, not allocated to the storage locations, are a threat to the security of civilians. And our residents know about it firsthand.
I sincerely hope that, through the influence of the OSCE SMM and Western partners Ukraine nevertheless will assume responsibilities which it undertook at the meeting of the Contact group and in the “Normandy Format”,” Denis Pushilin said.
