Parliamentarians discuss possibility of DPR’s joining European Agreement concerning International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road

On January 20, the extended session of the People’s Council’s Committee on Transport and Communications, dedicated to discussion of the possibility and joining procedures of the Donetsk People’s Republic to international treaties, in particular the European Agreement concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road (ADR).

The event was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Transport, Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Justice, Donetsk Academy of road transport, as well as other relevant ministries and departments of the Donetsk People’s Republic.

Deputy Sergey Sverchkov outlined the position of the Committee on Transport and Communications on this issue.

“This meeting is attended by representatives of various ministries and agencies, whose views on the topic we need to hear. First of all, we need to understand whether it is advisable to join the European Agreement concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road, and subsequently proceed with the development of relevant regulations.

In my opinion, the recognition by the DPR of the international agreement ADR says that we are building a legal state and our carriers are ready to carry out their activities in accordance with international standards and requirements,” the MP said.

During the discussion the meeting participants agreed on the need to unilateral accession of the Donetsk People’s Republic to the international agreement ADR and noted that this agreement does not contradict the legislation of the Republic and will enhance the level of safety during transportation of dangerous goods on its territory.
