Vladimir Bidyovka congratulates Telmanovo residents on Maslenitsa

On March 10, in the centre of the Telmanovo urban-type settlement, Maslenitsa festivities took place. As the guests of honour, the event was attended by the Chairman of the DPR People’s Council, Vladimir Bidyovka, and the head of the Telmanovsky District Council, Alexander Spinul.

Vladimir Bidyovka congratulated the residents of the settlement on Maslenitsa and thanked them for preserving the tradition of the holiday.

“Today is a special day for the Slavic people: Maslenitsa is finished, and it always ends with large-scale folk festivals.

It is extremely important that the Donbass people remember their Slavic roots, honour the traditions that have existed for centuries. Today we make every effort to preserve our ethnic identity, history, culture, traditional values. This is very important for all residents of the Donbass,” the Speaker of Parliament said.

During the festivities, guests of the event participated in contests and competitions, the winners received gifts and souvenirs. Besides, everyone could taste crepes traditional for the Maslenitsa week. The special atmosphere of the holiday was enhanced by the performances of the creative teams of the district.

The event ended with the burning of “Maslenitsa” – a straw figure, symbolizing the passing winter.
